“Take care of your customer’s equipment as if it was your own!”

Lloyd Heintz, MSC Founder

Lloyd and Marilee Heintz started Mailing Systems of Colorado (MSC) nearly four decades ago in 1986, after seeing an opportunity to fill a void for service on machine insertion in the Denver area. Lloyd knew at that time folks in Colorado had only one company, Bell & Howell, inserting machines (now known as “swing arm” machines). Lloyd began working with Mailcrafter, Intelmail, Kirk Rudy, Duplo, MBO among other leaders in the Direct mail and printing industry.

Lloyd’s experience with mailing equipment started in 1980 at a large lettershop in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was employed as a full-time machine mechanic. There, he was responsible for every aspect of the production, maintenance, repair, rebuilding, and modification of all the equipment in the facility to maintain the mail flow. His experience grew with providing service to their biggest customers, Publishers Clearing House, who mailed thirty to forty million letters per year!

In 1987, a master technician, James, moved to the Denver area and got his start in local letter shops, performing tasks ranging from machine operations, production supervision, and account management. This time Lloyd became the teacher and James became the apprentice which to date has led him to a 30+ year career working with and servicing machines within the direct mail industry. Servicing machines is second nature for James as he has become beyond proficient with any machine he encounters.

In 2017, Lloyd and Marilee decided to enter the next phase of their lives, retirement. Their insurance agent and close friend Steve offered to buy the company to keep the same focus on the company being run from the perspective of a “mom and pop” shop, that still in 2023 believes that taking “care of your customer’s equipment as if it was your own” is still the way to conduct business.  Under new management, Steve keeps the business running with the same care, professionalism, and ideals that the Heintz family built the company.

In 2021, John Downing joined the team to assist James in the day-to-day technical work. True to the mantra of apprenticeship and watching personal growth, John assumed the role of GM/Tech/Sales to help with the day-to-day operations. John moved to Colorado in 2011 with a background in repair, management, and operations.

MSC has grown over the years where our bottom line is this: We are not a staff of flashy salespeople or technicians’ book-schooled on one specific piece of machinery! To the contrary, we are an ambitious team who have been in the very trenches ensuring we do whatever it takes to get customers’ mail out the door and in the hands of the U.S. Postal Service on time! We understand the parts of the machinery we sell and service; we stock accordingly for things that happen and properly perform preventive maintenance to circumvent the chances of machinery going down during a critical period, all without breaking your bank while saving you time and bolstering efficiency.
